Peace, Quiet & Loon Calls
Carolyn B. Copp – Carlisle, Massachusetts
“We had such a wonderful time in The Birches cabin at Gilmore Camps. It was simple, secluded, cozy and convenient. After years of hectic vacations, we truly relaxed. Swimming, reading, grilling, kayaking, playing cards, with jaunts to Sherman’s Farm for fresh veggies and North Conway for tourist traps. My biggest decision involved where will I read today – on the porch, outside the porch, on the beach or by the fire. We took several car adventures up to the Rangeley Lakes and up to the top of Mt. Washington on a clear day. Our teenager adjusted nicely to an electronic free-zone, and enjoyed horseshoes, pool, and activities on the beach. We are counting the days until we can return.”
Robyn Bonitz – Brooklyn, Connecticut
“What a wonderfully, relaxing atmosphere. It was a peaceful spot on the lake. Little to no boat traffic and cottages were far enough away from each other to give you a sense of privacy. The owners were very cordial and welcoming. The pool house was a bonus as we brought three 17-20 year old young men with us which they enjoyed. Plenty to occupy young children as well.”
Beverly – Marin, California
“The Lake Cabin is right on the small beach with views of the lake out one side and an expansive lawn out the other. House is private and comfortable, lake is clean, grounds are great. Camp has everything you need from washing machine to gas barbeque. The Gilmores are wonderful and were very helpful. Note no phone or internet service in the cottage – which can be nice!”
Keeps Getting Better!
Tim & Becky Scott – Attleboro Falls, Massachusetts
“This was our 4th year visiting Gilmore Camps and they just keep getting better. The weather we had this week was by far the worst we’ve had yet, but it didn’t really matter. With the lake at our front door we were able to jump in and cool off between the rain showers. The four kids, ages 9 months to 5 years, had a blast and we’ll definitely be back next year – rain or shine!”
Great Cottage on a Lake!
Gal Wintersteiner – Newton, MA
“The Gilmores are great hosts, and made us feel very welcome. There were several other families, some with kids, and that was great for our 8 year old grandson who was with us. The beach is very nice – sandy and gradual, there is a nice float to swim to, and the cottage was very comfortable. Only thing I could have wanted was ping pong (in addition to the pool table), and a gas grill, instead of the small grills that needed charcoal and twigs to start the fire! The screen porch was wonderful, and we had a relaxing time reading and playing games there.”
Can’t Imagine Summer Vacation Anywhere Else
“It’s just the right size – not too many other people, but not just us all alone. Tom’s priorities for the camp are all in their proper places (e.g., no TVs, improved dock, kitchen renovations). The area is wonderful. It’s just a great camp run by wonderful people in a beautiful location. Kezar lake is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places on earth and Gilmore Camps is among the most inviting. The gracious hosts make everyone feel at home. The peaceful setting, the incredible views, and the wonderful people make it difficult to imagine spending our summer vacation anywhere else.”
“My primary motive for heading up to Kezar Lake was to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and the burdens of the desk. However, I was concerned that there wouldn’t be enough to keep the kids entertained. Boy, was I wrong !!! The boys spent their whole vacation in the Lake – catching frogs and fishing for sun fish. The hardest part was trying to get them out of the water to join the rest of the family for dinner on the porch! We had a great time. We’ll definitely be back again!”
Highlight of our Summer!
Karen, Ed, Brennan, Nora, Kendra, Tom, Colin, Nate, Katie, Rob & Susan
“We have just reserved The Lodge and both cottages for our second annual family vacation at Gilmore Camps. Our family can hardly wait – it certainly is the highlight of our summer. The lake is beautiful, and the houses are immaculate. We all have small children (from 5 months to 7 years old) and Gilmore Camps proves to be the perfect place for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. The beach is beautiful and the property is huge, which is perfect for the little ones to run around safely. We will be back to the Gilmore Camps every summer for a very very long time! Thank you Tom and Debbie for providing your wonderful camp as our vacation!”
David Searching Owl & Janet Quiet Dove, aka: Sacred Winds
“David and I as Sacred Winds performed at a wedding held at your camp on September 26th, 2009. When we arrived, not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised at the beauty we found there. The peace and tranquility was wonderful. We were hired by Rose and Rene, who also told us how much they loved your camp. It was easy to see why. Thank you for keeping the natural beauty of the landscape, enhanced by what you have done. Hopefully in the future we will be able to visit again.”
Same Magic as Always!
“Tom, just wanted to let you know that (in case you couldn’t tell) we had a great week at Gilmore Camps. To be honest, I think there was some trepidation prior to the trip that our memories could not be improved upon. But I would say they were at least equalled and now form the foundation for new memories. Continuity is rare in today’s changing world and it’s nice to know that at least one place – Gilmore Camps, maintained the same magic it’s always had.”
